How can we help?

Find answers to the most common questions about Mathic.

Getting started
How does the free trial work? ▼
Your 7-day free trial starts when you create your account and unlocks every topic in your child's school year. You don't need payment details, and you're never charged automatically. After 7 days your account moves to the Free plan: your child keeps all their progress and can keep playing the first two topics of their school year. To unlock every topic again, upgrade to Premium in Settings.
What's included in the Free plan? ▼
The first two topics of your child's school year, for one child. If you added more children during your trial, their profiles and progress are kept, and you choose which one plays for free.
What does Premium include? ▼
Every topic in your child's school year, for up to 5 children. It's £39.99 a year, or you can pay monthly.
Does Mathic follow what my child learns at school? ▼
Yes. Mathic follows the UK National Curriculum, topic by topic, in the order most schools teach it through the year.
Is Mathic available on Android? ▼
Not yet. Mathic is on iPhone and iPad for now.
Children and playing
I have more than one child. Does one subscription cover them all? ▼
Yes. One Premium subscription covers up to 5 children. Each child has their own profile and progress, and plays every topic in their own school year. Your children can be in the same year or in different years, in any mix from Year 1 to Year 6. The Free plan includes one child.
How do I add another child? ▼
Open Settings, then My Children, then Add a child. The Free plan includes one child; Premium allows up to 5.
My child is in the wrong year group. ▼
Open Settings, then My Children, tap your child, and change the year group.
Can I change which child uses the Free plan? ▼
Yes. In Settings, My Children, choose a different child. You can change it once every 30 days, and the other child keeps all their progress.
My trial has ended and some of my children's profiles are locked. ▼
When your trial ends, Mathic switches to the Free plan, which supports one active child profile. Don't worry: your other children's profiles and progress are safely paused, not deleted. You can upgrade to Premium to unlock all your children straight away, or change which child plays for free in Settings, then My Children (you can change this once every 30 days).
What are acorns? ▼
Acorns are earned in the Daily Challenge and spent on Challenge, Mix and Boss Round. Practise is always free. Acorns can't be bought.
What is a Boss Round? ▼
It's the check at the end of each topic. Scoring about 70% (for example 13 out of 18 in Year 6) finishes the island. Your child can try again as often as they like.
Subscriptions and billing
How do I upgrade? ▼
Open Settings, tap Upgrade to Premium, and choose monthly or yearly. Payment is handled by Apple.
How do I cancel? ▼
Subscriptions are managed by Apple. On your iPhone or iPad, open Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions, then Mathic. You keep Premium until the end of the period you've paid for.
Can I get a refund? ▼
Refunds are handled by Apple. You can request one at reportaproblem.apple.com. If anything is unclear, email hello@mathic.app and we'll help.
I've bought Premium but it isn't showing. ▼
Open Settings and tap Restore Purchases, using the same Apple ID you paid with. If it still doesn't appear after a minute, email hello@mathic.app and we'll look into it.
I have a new phone or iPad. ▼
Sign in with the same account and tap Restore Purchases in Settings. Your children's progress is saved to your account, not the device.
Privacy and safety
Is it safe for my child? ▼
There are no ads, no chat and no way for children to contact anyone. Only you can create the account, and purchases are protected behind a parent check.
What data do you keep? ▼
Your email address, and for each child a first name, year group and nickname, plus their progress. We never sell data. You can read our Privacy Policy.
How do I delete my account? ▼
Open Settings and tap Delete account. Please note this doesn't cancel a Premium subscription; cancel that in your Apple ID settings first. You can also email privacy@mathic.app.
Schools and problems
Can schools use Mathic? ▼
Mathic is designed for families at the moment. We'd love to hear from you: please tell us about your school at hello@mathic.app.
Something isn't working. ▼
Sorry about that. Please email hello@mathic.app with your child's year group, which island and mode they were in, and a screenshot if you can. We'll look into it straight away.
